Joseph addai injury

Who do you prefer: Frank Martin (Jason Statham in Transporter 3) or Frank Castle (Ray Stevenson in Punisher: War Zone)? While munching popcorn at my local multiplex on Friday night, I realized that both movies I was watching featured lead characters named Frank! Since both flicks were disappointing to various degrees (as explained at length by William Goss and Eric D. Snider), my mind wandered and I began imagining a movie in which the two battled to the death. Call it Frank vs. Frank.

If that calls to mind the horror movie stand-off Freddy vs. Jason, you’re not far off from my idle imaginings. In fact, the extreme body count and ultra-violence inflicted by Frank Castle — I can’t remember when I’ve seen so many blown-apart faces and shotgunned heads - Generico cialis- means that Punisher: War Zone closely comprare viagra resembles an 80s slasher movie. Of course, Transporter Frank would rather avoid violence altogether, but he too manages to lay waste to dozens of bad guys.

Both Franks live by their own set of rules: Transporter Frank insists on no names, no opening the package, and no changing the deal, while Punisher Frank only kills criminals who deserve to die — which is all of them, but still, it’s a rule. Both men prefer to work alone. And both men enforce their own dress code: Transporter Frank wears a black suit, white shirt, and black tie, while Punisher Frank wears a skull on his full-length costume (admittedly, not so prominent in the latest version).

I know who’d win in my movie version, but I thought I’d throw it out there to my fellow action movie junkies. Who would win: the more cerebral, ‘let me alone, I want to retire’ Transporter Frank? Or the merciless, ‘forever hell bent on vengeance’ Punisher Frank?

YouTube Search Bar: Now You See It, Now You Don’t

if you were anywhere in the vicinity of an online video champion who had embedded a youtube video, yesterday, you were fitting greeted with a cacophony of profanities. why? many users base their embedded videos were now marred by a large gray search hamper plastered across the top of their embeds. functional though it may beget been, it wasn’t pretty. and people weren’t happy.

Sponsor

Thong song

The search bar was part of the YouTube skin, so users could remove it programmatically. But for people with multiple embedded YouTube videos, that meant a lot of editing.

Well, apparently, YouTube was listening. And they’ve quickly rectified the problem. The search bar is still there, but now with a much more graceful implementation.

As you’ll see from the embedded video below, on some of the embedded videos the search bar is now triggered by a mouseover. Move your mouse onto the embedded video and it slides into view. Move it off the video and the search bar disappears.

Better? Not so fast. Or more accurately: you better be fast. Why? There’s still a little hiccup when you’re trying to grab the embed code on an embedded video. Click on additional information icon to get to the embed code. Search bar slides into place. Now try to grab the embed code to copy it. If you wait too long, the search bar times out and puts everything away. You’ve got to be pretty quick on the draw to grab the embed code.

So the search box is still flawed, but much less obtrusive.

One has to wonder - if it only took a few hours to correct this problem - why did YouTube choose to roll out the first version? Were they hoping users would take kindly to the missing chunk of real estate? Were they assuming the ease of searching would outweigh any aesthetic impact?

It’s hard to say. But hopefully, YouTube enthusiasts and Google have found a happy middle ground with this implementation. Once some of the kinks are worked out.

Official U.S. Trailer For ‘Che’ Finally Arrives

we missed our accepted screening to “che” (who can immolation four hours in a on date?), but we did already inquiries the two films at the toronto film festival in september. no matter, we’re completely willing to honour to see this in theaters in another one-go sitting if solely just to show our support of this flimsy and stellar covering.the steven soderbergh-directed epic finally has itself an official u.s. trailer via ifc films after months of waiting through spanish-language and international trailers that were usually crappy versions for the sake youtube (though there was one regular u.k. one).the release plan for the smokescreen is this: starting on december 12th, the two films will play in new york and l.a. for entire week as entire four hour long dusting with an intermission. following that, “che” will re-open on january 9th in new york and los angeles as two separate admissions titled “che part 1: the argentine” and “che part 2: guerilla.” the national rollout because of 25 markets will inaugurate january 16 and 22 and will enlarge on supplemental after that. for those that would instead absorb it all at home, ifc will make the films available ondemand on january 21, making it available to 50 million homes nationwide on all major line and retainer providers in both measure and high definition versions.”the argentine” centers on the south american revolutionary’s campaign to overthrown the u.s.-backed cuban dictator fulgencio batista in 1956. “guerilla” picks up nine years later in 1965 and chronicles guevara’s failed attempt to incite the same type of original campaign in bolivia, resulting in his death at the hands of the c.i.a backed government. you must see both films to get the wide story and go see them one at a time if you must, but go see them.if “lawrence of arabia” and “dr. zhivago” are considered multiple-oscar-prepossessing epics. why does the length of “che” seem so intimidating? ‘arabia’ is 227 mins (3.7 hours) and ‘zhivago’ is 197 mins (3. 2) hours and they’re revered. “che” is not that much longer and is not the grueling face some are making it unconscious to be. in fact, we were engaged by every unique minute; it’s away in our top 10 films of the year, no doubt. the films are unsentimental, matter-of-fact, but captivating and immersing; they’re like you’re embedded with che’s camps in both countries. benicio del toro won the best actor award at the cannes integument festival earlier this year and while most oscar hopes for this film feel out of reach, dear god, someone at least make known del toro a best oscar nomination in recognition of the sprawling and dazzling scope and vision of this mistiness. we’d love to see soderbergh nab a best official nomination, but that will under no circumstances happen. demian bechir who plays fidel castro is also amazing in the films. look for cameos and small roles by matt damon

Kevin R. Kosar U.S. Government Researcher and Writer

The Internet is chock-full of websites that carry misinformation, crackpot notions, and buncombe. Amidst this dross, HNN, a nonpartisan source for information and historical analysis of contemporary issues, shines like a beacon. HNN is a resource that I am happy to support.

As a history editor, I rely on HNN to keep me up to date on rising stars in the field, what historians are saying about current events, the best new books, fresh trends in historiography, and debates within the field. I check in several times a week — I use it to develop new book ideas and find great new authors. It’s a tremendous resource, and deserves enthusiastic support.

Historian, UNC Wilmington

I’m ashamed that I hadn’t given something before. … Thanks for such an excellent service. I use many of the stories for teaching ideas.

the team behind microblogging service pownce announced on the following blog today that it is joining blog software company sixapart and closing pownce in two weeks. pownce leftist sneaking beta with a big launch just 11 months ago but the service never grew beyond a core group of fans.

The Pownce team says it plans to “come back with something much better in 2009.” We’re excited to see what Pownce co-founders Leah Culver and Mike Malone do at SixApart; it should be a very good environment for them to innovate in.

This is the second move where well known innovators have taken their technology and brains to a bigger company and shuttered their startup that we’ve reported on in a week. Last week open source star Rael Dornfest sold his personal assistant startup Sandy to Twitter.

Though these startups were inspiring, we also think it quite noteworthy that even at a down time economically there are still jobs for super smart people. We covered the Pownce/SixApart deal in greater depth at our hire-tracking site Jobwire. See that coverage for more details about the technology that Pownce will bring to SixApart.

I don’t give New Zealand enough lovin’ and for that I apologise so as it is a rare occasion (I will try and make it less of a rarity…) I’ll go for a NZ oldie…. I’m sure all Kiwians know a fair bit about Nom*D. They did make it over to LFW in 1999 and were supposed to show their S/S 08-9 collection in London back in September. It didn’t happen but for a collection that is based on minute details and turning things inside out, I doubt a catwalk show would have done it justice anyway.

This “Insiders” collection turns to menswear as an inspiration but not in the usual way…. vintage men’s scarves get turned into a print on a dress. Tuxedos and waistcoats are softened up as opposed to being replicated; they’re cropped and shorn and their zips are placed proudly on the outside. Reversely, women’s petticoats are toughened up with tie dye and chopped up to make components of a dress. Inspiration aside, the entire collection is ripe for layering over and over again which of course pleases me to know end and being an Antipodean S/S 08-9 collection, it’s actually available for sale on General Cucumber right now. I see zips in all the right places, loose enough silhouettes for layering away and prints that are subdued enough to be mixed together. I promise I will do more NZ investigation…
